In realizing the need for an effective 501(c)3 corporation to raise funds for the California Mexican American Veterans Memorial Beautification & Enhancement Commission, the California Statewide Law Enforcement Association founded the non-profit corporation, El Soldado, to assist and work in conjunction with the commission to raise funds through private donations and contributions.

El Soldado, a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation, was established to ensure that funds raised through this corporation would be utilized solely, and in whole, for the purposes of beautifying, enhancing, maintaining the site’s grounds and establishing an educational component to the Mexican American/Latino Veterans Memorial statue. This committee has established stringent safeguards to prevent any monies raised through private contributions from being redirected into the State’s general fund account should the Commission’s efforts of raising funds to restore and redevelop the Memorial, and its current site grounds, not come to fruition by the legislated sunset date of June 30, 2016.

Upon meeting the goal of raising $1.5 million to help restore and redevelop the Memorial and its site’s grounds, El Soldado will transfer monies as needed, to the original account to pay for the development of the project. Any remaining funds in the El Soldado account will be utilized to create an educational component to the Memorial to educate today’s youth via written materials and the establishment of a 1-800 number, providing the history of the contribution that Mexican/Latino veterans made to the United States of America.

El Soldado is a non-profit 501(c)3 created under the flagship of the California Statewide Law Enforcement Association (CSLEA) for the sole purpose of the enhancement, beautification and repairing of the El Soldado Memorial Monument. All contributions are tax deductible (ID# 47-3370459) and can be made payable to "El Soldado" and mailed to:
